Owner of Happy Hauler

John Stromberg owns Happy Hauler, a family-run junk removal company in Seattle. Happy Hauler started in 1998 with one truck. Today John’s crews take on hundreds of jobs a year, from one-item pickups to full home, estate and commercial cleanouts.

John’s rule is to donate or reuse everything he can before anything goes to the landfill. Good furniture and household goods go to Happy Hauler’s 5,500-square-foot warehouse, then out to families leaving shelter for a home of their own. Happy Hauler works with Mary’s Place, Solid Ground, the YWCA, Goodwill and Hauling with Heart. A third of the company’s net profits goes to that work. The Puget Sound Business Journal wrote about the program in September 2025.

They distributed to charities (e.g. Habitat for Humanity and Goodwill), recycle organizations, and landfill as needed. They moved a big recliner and sofa from one dwelling to another. A Little About What We Do

Happy Hauler does garage, estate, bereavement and eviction cleanouts. We also clear offices and warehouses, haul construction debris and take on selective demolition jobs. We take furniture, appliances, yard waste, scrap metal and household junk from anywhere on the property, including upstairs rooms, basements and backyards.

Before anything leaves, it gets sorted for donation, recycling or disposal. Same-day and next-day pickups are often available. Happy Hauler is fully licensed and insured in Washington State.
